Which European countries have mapped plate-reading cameras?
The most complete community coverage is in the United Kingdom (about 1,300 cameras mapped) and the Netherlands (about 1,300), followed by Germany (about 650). Reports exist across most of the continent and grow as volunteers contribute.
Does Europe use Flock cameras?
Generally no. European plate-reading networks — called ANPR in Britain and ALPR elsewhere — are run by police forces, road authorities, and cities using regional vendors. The technology is the same as US Flock cameras: photograph the plate, check it against databases.
Are camera locations public in Europe?
It varies by country. Some governments disclose enforcement camera sites (speed and toll cameras especially), but police ANPR locations are usually withheld. Community mapping of cameras visible from public roads fills the gap, within each country's laws.
