Drive preview: replay your route with camera vision

Pick a start and a destination. The map shows every reported license plate camera that can see the road and the stretch each one covers, then replays the drive from the driver’s seat: the next turn, the next camera, and about how long you spend in a camera’s view. Just want a list? The route camera check has one.

Free. Worked out in your browser; nothing about the drive is sent to us or stored.

Do not use this while driving, and do not let anything on this website distract you from the road. It is a preview to look at before you go, and a live view for passengers. It is not a navigation app. Amber cones are where a camera with a recorded direction can see the road, and rings are cameras with no recorded direction, which are counted as seeing it. Times use the drive’s average speed. Camera data © OpenStreetMap contributors; community-reported and incomplete, so these are cameras we know of, not every camera.

About the drive preview

What does the drive preview show?

The route between two places, every reported license plate camera within reach of the road, and the stretch of the drive each camera can see. Press replay to ride the route from the driver's seat with the next turn and the next camera counting down.

How is the time in a camera's view worked out?

For a camera with a recorded direction, the part of the road inside its view cone, about 90 metres long and 70 degrees wide. For a camera with no recorded direction, the 90 metres leading up to it, since that is the safe assumption. Overlapping views are counted once, and the length is turned into time at the drive's average speed. It is an estimate, not a record.

Is this every camera on my route?

No. It shows cameras volunteers have documented from public roads, so treat the numbers as a floor. Coverage is strongest in metro areas and grows every week.

Is my route saved or sent anywhere?

No. The route request goes from your browser to the public routing service, and the camera check runs on your device. Nothing about the drive is stored by this site.

Can I use it while driving?

No. Never use this page, or any part of this website, while you are driving, and do not let anything on it distract you from the road. It is for planning before you go and for a passenger. It is not a navigation app and it does not warn you about cameras or anything else in real time. Pull over somewhere safe and legal before you use it, and follow your local laws on using a phone in a vehicle.
