Camera counts: OpenStreetMap contributors, snapshot of September 15, 2026. These are cameras volunteers have reported, so each figure is a minimum. “Added in 30 days” is when a camera was first put on the map, not when it was installed. Population: U.S. Census Bureau, Vintage 2025 estimates. Road length: Federal Highway Administration, Highway Statistics 2024, table HM-20.

Hover or tap a county for its numbers. In 3D, taller means more cameras in total and the color still shows the chosen measure. Where few people live, one or two cameras make a high rate.
Most cameras per resident
Counties of 50,000 people or more. In smaller counties a single camera swings the rate.

State ranking FAQs
Which state has the most Flock cameras per person?
Georgia, with about 8.7 reported license plate cameras for every 10,000 residents (9,860 cameras). Kansas and Illinois follow. The national figure is about 4.1 per 10,000.
Which state has the most Flock cameras in total?
California, with 20,557 reported cameras, followed by Texas (16,821) and Georgia (9,860). Big states lead on totals simply because more people live there, which is why the per-resident ranking is the fairer comparison.
Which county has the most Flock cameras?
In total, Harris County, TX, with 4,072 reported cameras, then Los Angeles County, CA (3,511). For its size, among counties of at least 50,000 people, Walton County, FL leads with about 19.6 per 10,000 residents. Cameras have been reported in 2,344 of 3,144 U.S. counties.
Which state has the most cameras per mile of road?
California, with about 11.6 reported cameras for every 100 miles of public road, followed by Washington, D.C. and Florida. Road lengths are the Federal Highway Administration's 2024 figures.
Are these official numbers?
No. There is no official public count of Flock Safety cameras. These are cameras that volunteers have spotted from public roads and added to OpenStreetMap, so every figure is a minimum, and states with more active mappers look more heavily covered than states where fewer people have gone looking.
Where does the population data come from?
The U.S. Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 state population estimates (resident population on July 1, 2025).
